Last but not least, the desire for portable alternatives to grand pianos and upright pianos has driven the technical development of electric, i.e. electromechanical, and electronic pianos.
An important milestone was the reed-based electromechanical piano by a company founded by a German emigrant in the nineteenth century, popular in music since the 1960s; just think of super hits like "What I'd Say", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Money", "Dreamer" and many others.
Since the early 1970s at the latest, the meteoric rise of a competing tines-based electromechanical piano began; almost countless world hits such as "Just The Way You Are", "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life", "Riders In The Storm" and "Shake A Tail Feather" bear witness to this.
By the early 1980s at the latest, the digital revolution in synthetic sound generation had arrived, bringing us a legendary Japanese synthesizer with the stunning "patch 11" creating the sound of a previously unheard electronic piano. It was this special sound that heralded the brilliant triumph of FM synthesis and has left its mark on popular music ever since.
The popularity of all these sounds, coupled with the desire of many of our customers to be able to do without extensive sample collections in favor of small storage space and short loading times, have been our motivation to present this new collection of programs, emulating the sounds of popular electromechanical and electronic pianos.
